| The Post Graduate Program in Hospital Management (PGPHM) and Post Graduate Program in Public Health Management (PGPPHM) are designed on modular pattern. The duration of modules varies from 2 to 4 weeks. An examination is held at the end of each module. The examination comprises of written test, student?s presentation, submission of write up and viva-voce.
During the first part of the program, the modules are designed to develop strong knowledge base of the students on various aspects of Management related to Hospitals, Health Care Organizations. This is done through classroom teaching and group exercises. The students are taken on field visits to various corporate hospitals for understanding the intricacies of hospital systems. The thrust of the program is on learning basic Management Skills and strengthening Communication Skills through student?s presentations, group discussions and role-plays.
Dissertation 1 : Towards the end of the first part, the students are attached to hospitals and healthcare organizations anywhere in the country for a period of four weeks to understand the structure of the organizations, their activities and workflow. The students also carry out the research projects assigned to them by the organizations. They prepare a report of their work and present it before a faculty panel as well as the health care organizations.
In the second part of the program, the modules are designed to develop multi-disciplinary skills in the respective specialty of students through rigorous assignments, case studies and group exercises. The thrust is specializing in one of the areas, developing analytical skills and problem solving techniques.
Dissertation 2 : After completion of the modules, the students are attached to hospitals and healthcare organizations anywhere in the country for their dissertation work for a period of three months. The students undertake individual projects in their specialized area that provides them an opportunity to apply the concepts, tools and techniques learnt during the courses. This gives them an understanding of practical approach to Hospital management, Health Care Organizations
. Faculty Members are assigned to every student as Guides who assist them from conceptualizing the project to finalization of report. On completion of their research work, they submit a copy of their dissertation to the Institute as well as the Health Care Organizations. The students also make presentations to all participants of the course and faculty members in an open house.
